The Aftershocks Data Fellowship

Nearly a year and a half into the Covid-19 pandemic, the aftershocks of the pandemic are particularly profound and likely to be ongoing as the content struggles with getting infections under control.

  • Building on AWJP’s inaugural “Reporting on the Pandemic Fellowship”, which was made possible with support from the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) AWJP has teamed up with ICFJ and ONE (who are delivering real-time data and analysis on the pandemic through their Africa Covid-19 Tracker and Aftershocks newsletter) to launch the ONE + AWJP Aftershocks Data Journalism Fellowship.

This cohort will be made up of 12 female journalists- from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa who will investigate some of the underreported and gendered dimensions of Covid-19 in Africa.

The fellows stories will be amplified across ONE’s Africa Covid-19 Tracker, Aftershocks newsletter, and Aftershocks and AWJP’s twitter accounts.

You can read more on the fellowship on ONE’s blog here and the fellows’ bio’s here.
