About the Fellowship
The AWJP / DW Akademie Gender + AI Reporting Fellowship equips women journalists in Kenya—especially those working in community radio and underserved regions—with the skills, tools, and networks to produce impactful, gender-sensitive journalism. Over four months, fellows receive training, editorial/data/design support, grants, and mentorship to deliver three high-quality stories that challenge stereotypes and elevate under-reported issues.
Why Mentors Matter:
Mentorship is the core of this fellowship. They act as career guides, critical sounding boards, and champions of inclusive journalism. As a mentor, you will guide fellows to navigate newsroom dynamics with confidence, apply a gender lens that sharpens their reporting, and grow as leaders. You keep them on track to publish powerful stories that elevate under-reported voices.
You will work alongside AWJP’s editorial, data, and design teams (who provide production support), ensuring fellows receive holistic guidance and professional growth opportunities.
